Day 4 dawns...we are still trying to leave San Antonio for our Big Bend Vacation. We arrive early at the truck dealer, looking around for our new 2011 Ford Dually, 350 (I think...truck guys help me out here). Luck is on our side this am, the truck is hitched up to the RV (which spent the weekend in their lot). Is it truly luck? or the Sales person making an awesome commission? Its 90 degrees @ 8am, but we are moving things from the old truck (who apparently loves living in the service bay at the dealer) to the new truck and getting 5 people settled into seat belts.Did anyone see the fact that the other people in the truck were Rachel, Jason and Hannaruth? Did you really think we were getting on the road quickly? I know I was surprised we didn't actually get on the road until 5pm. But we are actually headed west!! We made it to Junction, which if you don't know about Texas, is only 80 miles out of San Antonio. The Llano River runs by the RV camp and we had a great time unhooking, getting settled in for the night and taking pictures of the area. Jason is learning how to set up and unhook. The greatest thing on this RV is the automatic leveling system. Just a button push away from level. (Even I could learn, but I don't see that happening. ) Do I sound like a sales person? Maybe I could do that for a commission?

Brandon on his own.

On to the next adventure, while still waiting for our new 2011 truck to be delivered. Brandon moved into his new Condo in College Station. Does that bed look familiar? It's been thru 3 kids! Wow, now it's off to college. A & M here we come. Oh, by the way, Brandon the rent is due in 3 weeks!! and did I forget to tell you the refrigerator is not full? Oh well, he'll figure it out soon enough. See ya, we're heading home and then off to Big Bend.

Happy Birthday to the Lindle's!

Happy Birthday to both Lindle's!! Uncle Lindle is 90 and Lindle is 60. What a great party it was.
We finally took off to the party, not as planned in the RV, but the whole family was there and that is what counts. Don't they look alike? It's amazing how the Barkleys look alike as they age. Amazing guys too.

Wow, took us 4 days to finally get on the road for the first RV trip. A new 2011 Ford truck later to pull the RV and a side trip to Houston and College Station in the Suburban waiting for the new truck to get hitch attached.
Friday morning we were headed to Houston for Lin's 60th Birthday party, to be shared with his Uncle Lindle's 90th party. RV packed for a full week in the mountains after the party, Brandon following behind, his truck packed for his new condo on College Station. Did I mention he was moving to College Station early in the summer to get a job before college starts? He is excited about being on his own for the first time. The summer will be on his own, but a few weeks later, 3 more friends will descend on the condo as roommates. Rachel, Jason and Hannaruth in the back seat of the truck...4 miles out of San Antonio...the truck breaks down! This is the same truck that we just got out of the shop 2 days before for oil leaks. Now the picture I needed was the wrecker pulling the truck off, while we sit on I-10 in the RV! But at the time, that was the last thing we were thinking of, to document that!
The dealer was pleased though after Lin decided this was the last straw, a new truck was in the very near future (next day!)

The New RV life with the Barkleys

Listening to the call of the road...we're getting ready for our first trip in the RV. Are you thinking, have they ever done this before? Are the Barkley's "pro's" at this traveling? Well, with Lin traveling all those years on a plans, Michelle traveling for 5 years, you would think we would be old hats. We've done our research, we've asked lots of questions of anyone we know with fifth wheels. So now is the first launching this Friday! Off to birthday celebration on Spring Branch with all the Barkley's. Lin will be 60 and his Uncle Lindle will be 90. So excited to start this new adventure. As the road calls, I'll be posting the adventures and pictures. Here's to the New RV life
